Ninja Polish - Divinity

Ladies (and gentleman) - may I introduce to you - Divinity! This is the first time I got a second back-up bottle of a polish. I actually sold one of my children to get the money. I picked the little one and he's a screamer so it just about covered polish and shipping!

Anyway, this is a duochrome. It has a flat brush (they can be a smidge wonky) just about the size of OPIs and the bottle looks the same. I think I would have gotten away with two coats, but I was a bit riled after the first one which tended to drag and bunch a bit, so I did three just to make sure. When I finished, I just took my new love for a walk. We basked in the sun, we looked deeply into each other's eyes and *I blush* we almost made out in public.

The colors range from red, gold, forest green to purple and I don't know what else. It's just the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.

The novel is 1500 pages, and I usually favor books that are succinct and to the point. This one is an exception. You do need to read it. All of the pages. It's about a couple of families in India and after you've read this novel you will know everything you can know about India without going there. Do you need to know about India, you wonder? Yes. You do.

Nordic Cap - Yellow?

The question  mark? Well, I've given this one away so can't check the name, but could it be anything else?!

This one was a request from my son. It was bright. I even gave up on my most sacred principle and did four coats of this sucker, and there was still some VNL. The little guy thought I looked really great though! So. It's sheer. It's yellow, but, it's about 10 kr at my local grocery store. Also, tip wear won't show when you wear light shades so at least I didn't have to wrap the tips:)

The book is by Barabara Kingsolver (LOVE her!) and it's about how she and her family lived for a year on only things they could grow themselves. Sounds boring? It's not - wait till you get to the chapter about tomatoes!! PS. This book might give you a bad conscience as well as a longing for the great outdoors.

SpaRitual - Dreamsicle

Was this a creme or a jelly; was it easy or tricky to use; was it..? I don't know. I have the memory of a goldfish. It was three coats and it was pink indeed. I do remember that. And I used an OPI ProWide to put it on, since that's my preference.

The book, She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb is a 90s classic. Basically, it's about a girl who eats to hide herself and her pain. I loved it. I remember that too.

Also, this is my entry for Pink Thursday at Emma's!

Fnug - Like Lolita

I grabbed this color at a sale. I've never been able to bring myself to pay the preposterous sums asked for Fnugs in Sweden, but 50 SEK? I grabbed four and after trying this shade, I'm going back to scrape the bottom of the barrel!

I was gaping when spreading it over the nail and the expression "it spread like butter" suddenly made sense. It was - dare I say it - better even than my best OPIs. I did three coats. There is still a faint nail line visible and I think this formula is what people call a jelly. It should be said though that the Fnug-brush is the teeniest thing ever. I can hardly see it, miuch less use it. I used an OPI brush to put it on. Best of two worlds! Super shiny and long-lasting too!

The book is a sci-fi good enough to gobble up in one sitting. Everyone I've lent it to has loved it. I may even have shown it in another of my posts? Oh well, you'll survive, I think.

OPI - Anti-Bleak

The OPI Mariah Carey collection is a bit over the hill now, I know, and Anti-Bleak certainly didn't make a splash. Bloggers have continually said that the shade is unoriginal but they have also agreed that the formula is flawless. The formula IS flawless. In fact, it's almost a one-coater, but two coats make for perfect coverage. It spreads like butter and levels itself out perfectly. And the shade? Well, I only have a bit more than 50 polishes, and this is a beautiful warm, dark purple creme. So if you, like me, don't have anything like it before, this is the perfect choice!

The book Ladies makes for easy reading just now - English ladies! Excentric, peculiar and with extraordinary lives. Also, if you don't want to finish the whole thing, you can just pick and choose among the chapters:)

Nubar - Vino

This is a favorite, that I keep coming back to! In fact, I like it so much, I gave it a new home in a L'Oréal bottle (with a flat brush) since I didn't like Nubar's brush. Vino needs sunlight to really make an impression, though. Kind of like some people need a stiff drink, and then they're just the life of the party. Vino is like that.

It's dark red (leaning towards blue on the color wheel) but with a tinge of coppery brown, and lots of shimmer. Now, I'm sorry, but I can't for the life of me detect the subtle color shiftings in the shimmer itself like some people seem able to do. Red? Coppers? Are they glassflecks even? I really can't tell for sure. Anywho - it's gorgeous, and I love it!

Btw, Wool is a really cool sci-fi novel (or, really, I think it's a collection of five novellas that have been put together). It's set hundreds of years into the future, and the air is so toxic, that the only people left, live in a big silo sunk into the ground. The world outside is so taboo, that people who talk about it are sent outside as an ultimate punishment. Naturally, things turn sour and questions are raised...

Depend - 351

This looks great in the bottle. On the nails - well - I'm not that excited. It was pretty sheer and three coats didn't do the job, as you can see. But since I have better things to do and am, like, a sane person, I refuse to do four coats. All you crazy nail ladies out there can amuse yourselves with that kind of insanity. After all, I only browse polish for hours each day, spend all my money on polish, and redo my nails every other day, so you know, it's not like I have a problem.

You get a kiddie book today, because my one-year-old will enjoy this color after all. It's bright and shimmery, so is bound to catch a baby's eye. Also, it's a reminder to all parents out there: don't forget to read to your kids and start young!! They will be leagues ahead of all their peers that way and us teachers won't have to work so hard. We're known slackers. You can read that everywhere, right?

PS. You get irony, right? Oh, and this is my entry for Linda's Blue Monday!

Contrary Polish - Desert Fruit

This is a soft greyish purple with red shimmer. I looove the shimmer combos Contrary Polish puts out. I had the same negative experience as with Anna Maria though with the formula and brush.  Too thick and the brush was so-so. Covered in two coats though and I couldn't stop looking at my nails:) This polish will find a new home in a better bottle with a better brush!

The novel? Sebastian Faulks of Birdsong fame. This one is one of the classiest damn novels I ever read. I won't reveal how it ends. Let me just say - the narrator is unreliable. So, you're warned. Read it.
